David Cunliffe dropped the baton twice

No Leadership Ability or Incompetent Advisers ?

Thus the people of New Zealand lost as a result of the 2014 election race

When Nicky Hager launched his 'Dirty Politcs' tell all, David Cunliffe should have got in position to take the Baton for another lap shrieking at the National Party. Instead the Main Stream Media managed to hold the public captivated, until they were finally placated by Judith Collins resignation as a minister. Instead Cunliffe remained fixated on promoting policies. While policies are the cornerstone of any party the public and media were wanting to see leadership and blood.

This was a time to see David of Labour slaughter the National Goliath however Cunliffe continued to dither and bumble his way through the distasteful Capital Gains policies. He wasn't on his own here the Labour management and strategists should have seen this as the opportunity of the election.

Next Kim Dotcom provided the Auckland Moment of Truth Event, which went as far as revealing two cloak and dagger NSA operations locations on its doorstep. And once again Cunliffe failed to display the leadership we expect of a future Prime Minister.

Labour made a lot of other strategic errors in this election, such as dumping the center of the spectrum and pre-announcing post election terms and conditions. However where they really lost was by not being able to perceive opportunities  and exploit them. This is simple leadership skill.
